BRITISH AUTHOR KAZUO ISHIGURO WINS THE NOBEL PRIZE IN LITERATURE 2017

Kazuo Ishiguro was born in Nagasaki, Japan, on 8 November 1954. He came to Britain in 1960 when his father began research at the National Institute of Oceanography, and was educated at a grammar school for boys in Surrey. 

Afterwards he worked as a grouse-beater for the Queen Mother at Balmoral before enrolling at the University of Kent, Canterbury, where he read English and Philosophy. He was also employed as a community worker in Glasgow (1976), and after graduating worked as a residential social worker in London.

He is the aiuthor of many novels, short stories and film scripts. Some of his best-known novels include A Pale View of Hills, The Remains of the day and Never let me Go.

Our 12-year-old students of  ESO 1 have taken part in a gymkhana in downtown Barcelona. According to their feedback, they not only practised English but had a lot of fun as well!

A LECTURE ON CLIMATE CHANGE

Ms Ann Martin, a Fullbright Fellow, lectured our students of Batx 1 on her research about Climate Change and Resource Recovery from Organic Waste. Her research compares her native California with Catalonia in terms of waste recovery and how this influences our climates in the short and long run.

This lecture was provided by the cultural service of the U.S. Consulate in Barcelona and it was extremely informative for our students.
